So you’re here. You want to know more about the person whose blog posts, devotions, sermons, and poetry you’ve been reading. That’s an admirable task. I would do the same thing.

So a little bit about myself: I’m one half of a clergy-couple, both of us ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). I’m a graduate of Brite Divinity School (M. Div. in 2015) and Culver-Stockton College (B.A. in 2011) now living in Columbia, MO. I’m originally an Iowan, so it’s going to take some time to adjust living in a state that lost the Honey War. And as of May 2019, I’m now a father!

My wife, Hannah, and me in Door County, WI.

I like to read. My favorite fiction writers are John Steinbeck, Cormac McCarthy, Ron Rash, and Flannery O’Connor. More often than not I’ll be reading more than one book at a time.

Sports are a source of enjoyment for me. I’m a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and TCU Horned Frogs. I also picked up the habit of golf.

Some of the theologians, preachers, and writers you’ll find me reading and influenced by are Fred Craddock, Anna Carter Florence, Fleming Rutledge, Mockingbird, Walter Brueggemann, and Barbara Brown Taylor (among others.)

I’ve written some liturgical items. You can find them here. I have a couple essays/sermons published. You can find them here.

If you like what you read, let me know. If you have a question, leave it in the comments and I’ll get back to you. Thank you for checking my thoughts and writings out!

  1. Hello Rev. Will, saw you on Twitter and wanted to reach out on behalf of Growing Hope Globally. We work closely with Week of Compassion (one of my colleagues, Alex Morse, is a fellow DOC) and have a Growing Project around Columbia, MO. Would you be willing to chat more? Blessings and thanks, Max
