“The Face of God”

I wrote this poem in the Sunday School class this past weekend. The students were invited to respond on how the Face of God would look, and this was my response.

“The Face of God”

Beaty eyed and pock marked,
Speckled and bald,
Black and beautiful,
You are there.
Unibrowed and furrowed,
Freckled and broken,
Beaten and bruised,
You are there.
Brown and yellow,
Capped and gold,
Veneered and flared,
You are there.
Where we are,
You are there.

I’m open to critiques. I will say though, I’m not a poet, and I definitely know it.
